yes!

yes.
Yes for a snowday yesterday.
and yes for wonderful coffee in Siloam Springs; I'm thankful for Cafe on Broadway.
Yes for using poor grammar on a xanga post.
Yes... I am in a band. And, yes, we may have never practiced, but we are excited, and have some originals, and some covers, and we are excited. Be on the lookout for "The Ledgers" in honor of the late Heath Ledger. Our name could change at anytime, this is already our third. But until we actually play somewhere it doesn't matter. I'm excited. I love music. And that we're a band.
Yes, good movies are here. Check out "Juno" and "27 Dresses". Both great.
Yes, my room looks pretty. And I feel pretty. And life is good.
Yes, I still have no idea what I'll do this summer or fall, but it sure would be great if it involved playing music. Maybe Sara Bareilles will want to have me open for her and rock out singing her songs. Doubtful.
Yes, it's hard to be involved in a church here, but last week was a little glimmer of hope.
Yes, for people who care about me, and people that I care about. That's a good combo. Yes, a lot of friends are too far away. Come see me, we can meet for coffee at Cafe on Broadway.

Hmmm... reflecting on life definitely only happens on the weekends. Weeks are crazy. We just finished our seventh week of school. My first concert, with the fifth graders, is Tuesday night. Pray that we have a great time. The students, myself, the parents, etc. It is homecoming week at Lincoln, the Lincoln Apple Festival, JBU Homecoming and Bikes, Blues and BBQ. Whose idea was it to have all of these on the same weekend? Probably, no one's.

I thought you would enjoy seeing some pictures of my students. But, now it's not working. When it is, I'll add them. I love my kids (all 621 of them). That's why I'm at Lincoln. It's a VERY hard job, and I'm always tired, but I LOVE them. They do funny things like sing "from every country fried let freedom sing", instead of "mountainside".

I'm off to a rugby game, a crowning of a new jbu homecoming queen, church, an apple festival, seeing Brian Webster, and somewhere writing lesson plans.

I'm still not in Australia. I'm still not so good at xanga posts. I have been in Arkansas and working for a month. Right now, I LOVE my students. They are full of stories and life and getting used to school and it is good! There are sure to be stresses and days when I am sick of it, but right now it is good. I like my new schedule (I get them for 55 minutes instead of 40 minutes), the day goes faster.

I live with the lovely, tall, and long-haired Jen Ardill. We are good roommates. It has been fun to not be lonely. And to have someone to share life with.

I am working on what it looks like to live in community. I have visited a lot of churches and want to commit to one in the next week or two and get involved with worship leading or helping. Fellowship Saturday night service is the best candidate so far. I also am working on a bible study with some friends, and that will be good to see where that goes.

I have an Arkansas drivers license. And a Lincoln Library Card. Things are changing.
I am still not really moved in to either school or my room. I am learning about not-so-perfectionist tendencies.
I am reading through Acts. Good stuff.
I never have enough time to call all the people I want to. Friends, come visit. I'm more fun in person.

waves.

I may be living a full-on life, but I am not a full-on writer. My last xanga entry was months ago. No more apologies, with a new profile picture, and color, I am writing on.

I am in Australia. In Melbourne, to be exact. With Dharshi and Sarah. Amy was here for a few days so we had a full-on KDAS reunion. It was wonderful. Sarah has been blogging about our trip, enjoy reading. She's a writer.

Highlights:
Dharshi's church is full of life, strong teaching, and refreshing worship.
We saw 24 wild koalas. They loved us.
We saw the smallest penguins in the world, the "little penguin" come out from the ocean and into their homes.
(Ask Dharshi to waddle like one).
We have stood on the oceanfront singing worship songs.
We saw the southern cross, a star constellation, and the milky way.
We enjoy flat whites almost daily.
We cut and dyed Sarah's hair.
We are exploring the city and watching a footie game this week.
People ask me within moments of hearing me speak where I am from. Whoops.
Love it. Love this break. Love being relaxed and refreshed. Love being with these girls.

what. what. what? oh, okay.

I thought a follow up was necessary of my last post.

The concert went really well. Mostly, I was COMPLETELY relieved when it was over. The kids were cute, the parents nice, and the principals pleased. I am really beginning to fit in and enjoy working at Lincoln. The kids were a little nervous, so they sang everything a little fast. They beat the accompaniment track to the ending by a few seconds everytime, but I can't complain. I was proud of them. So cute.

I had a job interview on Thursday for a job in Springdale, that did not go super well. Now, I don't think I can leave Lincoln. I haven't made a final decision, but I have been offered a job to return in the fall to Lincoln, and I think I really might enjoy it. So, I'm still praying about that.

(I am all over the place today.) Andrea and I are hoping to live together in Fayetteville in the fall. She's hopefully going to U of A and I am 25 minutes from Lincoln in Fayetteville and that would give me a fresh start and an exciting new place to live. I really hope and pray that happens.

Last night, I went to a worship night with ozone, and I got to worship in a way that I haven't in a while. I love worship, I love how music helps me connect to the Lord. I learned some new things, and got a glimpse of what life in love with the Lord looks like. I feel like I had lost some perspective. Hopefully I'll get "back into" worship.

Final thing, short story: Jay, my favorite. I was taking turns singing to every kindergartener. I sang to him "good afternoon jay" and though he was sitting criss-cross-applesauce with his hands in his lap, before he responded, he stood up on his knees and opened his arms and sang "good afternoon miss wood" with a HUGE shaky voice. We laughed, and i asked him what he was doing. He said, "I was singing oper-a-da!" How in the world Jay knew that I dont know, but it was adorable.
